Having a baby 101...

Josh and I have always known that we wanted to have a family of our own.  After our wedding we told ourselves that we would wait at least a year to start.  We really wanted to focus on us as a couple and really soak up the married life.  We planned a few trips, enjoyed our laid back schedule, slept in, and just really enjoyed life with just Russy to attend to.

After a year and a few 'Maybe we'll should try next month' We finally decided to buckle down and just do it.  We scheduled our first preconception appointment in the end of February and had to go back a few times and take a few extra tests due to some not-so-good test results.  It was a rocky month for us.  I worried a lot that and I'm sure Josh did too!  I just had this feeling that it was going to take a while for us to get pregnant...I was driving myself crazy with all the worrying...then one day after talking to Josh and expressing to him how worried I was he said to me 'Geez, relax will ya? We haven't even started trying yet.' He was right...we haven't even started trying yet, so why was I getting so stressed for?

When I say that this pregnancy was planned that is an understatement!!  I did everything under the sun to make sure we got it right the first time!  I slept with a chart and thermometer on my night stand so I can chart my basil body temperature every morning, bought an ovulation kit, tried to get into shape, and became a little more cautious of what I ate!! Ya, I didn't want to leave anything to chance! Um, I even slept with a pillow under my legs (my mom swore to it)!

Fast forward to Easter Sunday (the day before my 30th birthday) We spent the early afternoon with Josh's family to celebrate and on our way home we decided to stop and pick up a pregnancy test.  We got home and I immediately made a b-line to the bathroom....next thing I know I'm taking the 3rd one and it still came out 'positive'.  We were both beside ourselves and started nervously laughing.  We seriously didn't think it would happen so quickly, but we were both happy regardless.  Naturally, all day we kept randomly saying 'Um, we're going to be parents...this poor kid...' and laughing.

Baby Roque at 8 weeks
The best birthday present thus far!
